Flesh Consumed
Cast Into The Pit brings it's message from a bit of the past, a little smear-of Bolt Thrower-style
plodding that works nicely, piecing the stab wound chunk chunk from the guitars over a hyperactive shot of drums that never
seems disjointed or unnecessary (as is so often the case). The song gets in, does its nasty bit of work, surprises with a
flourish at the end, and then bows swiftly, content in the carnage it has caused. Human Abattoir makes up for Cast Into The
Pit's promise with a bit of sudden meandering that never finds its focus throughout its short burst. A slab of grind and not
much more, but aren't there enough pieces of meat on the butcher's counter today, some succulent, some rotten? I'm guessing
Human Abattoir will find itself "reduced for quick sale"...Lynched with Entrails grabs back the groove suspected on the earlier
Cast Into The Pit, and while the typewriter-gone-mad focus the production has given to the drums has been done, and done to
death, the sweeping melodic riff towards the latter third of the song brings melody within the womb of the grind that thrills
even old-school fans.
Nailgun Acupuncture, with the lowest listens on the page of the four, is not getting enough ears
pierced. This gem seems to rise up beyond the others and launch itself bodily at the listener with a war-like abandon. Everything
clicks on this one; the sinister vibe of the guitars, the bounce of the drums from grind to thrash and back, the collision
of speed to doom. Easily the best of the bunch, and the line in the sand Flesh Consumed should stay beyond and from which
they should never dare return.
